Auction introduction: The owner of Wang Xing Lou is an important collector and antique dealer in Hong Kong known for his foresight, wisdom, modesty, discernment, unique vision, and exceptional taste. In the early 1990s, he focused on collecting Qing Dynasty imperial porcelain. At that time, the market was dominated by Song ceramics, monochrome glazes, and early Ming blue and white porcelain. Yet, he had the insight to go against the trend, particularly favoring the ceramics of the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong periods. His collecting principle is based on "authenticity, excellence, and rarity," and he often interacts and seeks advice from renowned experts, including James Lally, Julian Thompson, and Richard Marchant. The eight pieces from Wang Xing Lou selected for this auction showcase the brilliant development of Chinese ceramic craftsmanship under the reigns of emperors Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. These eight pieces of Qing Dynasty imperial porcelain are truly precious, radiant and unique examples that are rarely seen in major public and private collections worldwide. Many of these items have not been found in collections at the Palace Museum in Beijing or National Palace Museum in Taipei. Hence, these pieces are as rare and as valuable as morning stars. The most valuable item featured in this auction is lot 3303 "A BLUE AND WHITE 'ARCHAISTIC' HU-FORM VASE AND COVER, SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG". This piece holds a very special place in the collection as the first item acquired. The beautiful piece sets the standard for the rest of the collection and shall continue to do so as a bright guiding star for the collector.
