Auction introduction: Sotheby’s Annual Spring Sale is one the of most anticipated events in the luxury market. For such an occasion, our spirits team is proud to present Finest and Rarest Spirits, a sale that encompasses holy grail bottles that would draw attention around the globe, as well as hidden gems that you might have been searching for years, but have never came across. As usual, the most popular Scotch distillery – Macallan, takes the spotlight in the sale, with the oldest whisky ever bottled, the Macallan 81 Year Old – The Reach. On each of its sides are the 78 Year Old and 74 Year Old from the Red Collection. We are also thrilled to offer an entire set of the extremely popular Exceptional Single Cask 2017 Series. These highly sought after bottles are often considered as some of the best liquids from the modern era Macallan. Other popular distilleries such as Port Ellen, Lagavulin, Brora and Bowmore…etc are also featured. Moving onto Japanese whiskies, rare Karuizawa single cask bottlings, Hanyu cards series, Chichibu single casks and Yamazaki single casks bottlings are all being offered in substantial quantity. Regular releases from both Suntory and Nikka are both offered for drinkers looking to stock up their shelves. An interesting bottle that stands out from the crowd is the Suntory blended whisky of 1962 vintage, produced for the 50th Anniversary of Young Presidents Organization. This bottle is believed to contain Yamazaki malts from the vintage of 1962, since it was the only operating malt distillery Suntory owned at that time. This is the very first time this extremely rare bottle has been featured in Sotheby’s.
